The Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago posted that in 2011 71.7% of jobs in Detroit were held by people who DO NOT LIVE IN DETROIT. These numbers show that Detroiters, who are majority African-American are locked out of local employment opportunities.
Detroit People’s Platform District 4 members and supporters have 500 signatures from residents on a petition in support of the Community Benefits Agreement Ordinance. We are gathering more. Those 500 District 4 signatures were registered with Council President Brenda Jones who is strong in support of the Ordinance.
Those 500 signatures are D4’s part of strong and growing CITY-WIDE support for the CBA Ordinance.
