Dear Majority Black Detroit,
Yesterday, November 5th, 2024, was a beautiful and powerful day in our city. Detroit People’s Platform volunteers and supporters were out at the polls all day. Joy was thick in the air. There was a great vibe and many of the polls were busy through the day. The music provided by DJs at the Polls at many locations found Detroiters dancing from their cars to their ballot boxes. Curbside voting supported Detroiters who never had to get out of their cars and poll workers safely and securely handed our ballots. It was a day of smiles and of bearing witness to the fruits of our collective hard work canvassing and calling Detroiters. Thank you to our staff and volunteers for making a difference.
In the face of national outcomes there is some important news, majority Black Detroit overwhelmingly voted for Vice President Kamala Harris and against hatred, racism, sexism, xenophobia, authoritarianism and white supremacy.
In the face of national outcomes there is some important news, majority Black Detroit overwhelmingly voted for Vice President Kamala Harris and against hatred, racism, sexism, xenophobia, authoritarianism and white supremacy. We did our part and that is a local win even in the face of the coming fight. Thank you to majority Black Detroit for getting into this good fight, knocking doors, making phone calls, having tough conversations, and staying strong for Democracy! As we have since 2013, Detroit People’s Platform will continue to fight for material benefits for majority Black Detroit. In the face of yesterday’s outcomes, we invite all Detroiters to join the fight for racial justice in one of the nation’s largest majority Black cities.
Thank you for fighting!
